The 5 Reasons the Latest Diet Doesn't Work

๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜ ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ปโ€™๐˜ ๐˜„๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ธ ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿปโฃ (and why we don't follow any specific diet plan...) โฃ I (Alexis) started my weight loss journey probably 5 times before one actually became my true story. I would try something, stop. Try something else, mess up and stop. It was a perpetual cycle that got me going nowhere fast. Diet after diet, plan after planโ€”not one of them stuck-why? โฃ โฃ 1. ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ป๐—ผ ๐—ณ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฒ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐˜€โ€”this is something I truly donโ€™t understand from a nutritional science perspective. Every food has value. It doesnโ€™t matter how โ€œcleanโ€ it is or how nutrient dense, it still has calories, and macronutrients, that enter your body. Bananas, for example, are great but 2 medium bananas a day is about 270 calories and about 70g of carbs ๐Ÿ˜ณ thatโ€™s all well and good if you are accounting for it but can make a big difference in whether or not the scale moves. โฃ โฃ 2. ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐˜๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฎ ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ป๐˜ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜†๐˜€/๐˜„๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ธ๐˜€โ€” so you do a 21 day challenge, a 30 day plan or whatever it may be. Whatโ€™s the first thing you do on that 22nd, 31st or next day? Tell yourself youโ€™re done. If youโ€™ve reached your goals, okay ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป time to set a new one but, why are you going to demolish all the work you just put in? Body composition (whatever the goal) is an ongoing process that doesnโ€™t really fall into a specific time constraint. โฃThat being said, challenges can be a helpful kick in the pants for some people but recognize that it's completion doesn't mean the end for you! โฃ 3. ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ๐˜† ๐—ด๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฐ ๐—ฒ๐˜…๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€โ€” โ€œKaren lost 20lbs in 30 days following our program!โ€ Good for Karen. Thatโ€™s an immense, unrealistic amount of weight that they put into someoneโ€™s head. It may happen-if you starve yourself and eat weird things but that doesnโ€™t mean itโ€™s good for you, that you should do it or that it helps you AT ALL for long term success. As well, you donโ€™t lose 20lbs in 30 days because thatโ€™s stupid and now you feel bad about yourself. Not worth it ๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธโฃ โฃ 4. ๐—œ๐˜ ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜ ๐—ณ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—บ ๐Ÿฌ-๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ ๐—ถ๐—บ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—น๐˜† ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—ปโ€™๐˜ ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ ๐˜‚๐—ฝ ๐˜„๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต ๐—ถ๐˜ โ€”whatever it is, itโ€™s something different than youโ€™re doing now or you wouldnโ€™t have even considered it. Whether itโ€™s eating different foods, planning more/differently, timing your mealsโ€”the demands will catch up quick and it will get old fast. One thing from before diet will creep in and the towel gets thrown in because itโ€™s ruined. โฃ โฃ 5. ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ๐˜† ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ปโ€™๐˜ ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐˜ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐˜‚๐—ฝ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—Ÿ๐—œ๐—™๐—˜ โ€”at a birthday party with Grandma Addies chocolate cake? You bet you should enjoy that once a year treat (if you really enjoy it!). Out to dinner and thereโ€™s bread on the table? Donโ€™t watch everyone else gobble it down while you slice your tomato on your plate. In the scheme of things, your life matters first and foremost. There are times where goals come first but, that shouldnโ€™t be 24/7/365. โฃ โฃ You can live a life of moderation, not deprivation, while still reaching your goals. โฃ Tell us-whatโ€™s the most ridiculous diet you've ever done?
